Sabato, Trump ha dichiarato che gli Stati Uniti hanno neutralizzato gran parte delle capacit nucleari dell'Iran, aggiungendo tuttavia che restano ancora "uno o due siti" di cui necessario "occuparsi". Teheran, che smentisce di voler dotarsi di armi nucleari, ha avvertito che risponder in caso di attacco.
"La Cina sostiene l'Iran nella difesa della sua sovranit e della sua sicurezza", ha affermato il ministro degli Esteri, Wang Yi, in occasione della visita a Pechino di Ali Bagheri, vice segretario del Consiglio supremo per la sicurezza nazionale iraniano. "Tutte le parti dovrebbero con spirito di ragionevolezza e pragmatismo, privilegiare una soluzione politica piuttosto che ricorrere nuovamente a un conflitto armato", ha dichiarato Wang Yi al suo interlocutore, secondo quanto riportato in un comunicato del ministero. La visita di Bagheri non era stata annunciata.
