Carney mantuvo un breve encuentro con Trump en los mrgenes de la cumbre del Foro de Cooperacin Econmica Asia-Pacfico (APEC) celebrada en Corea del Sur, durante el cual se disculp por la emisin del anuncio televisivo.
En 2026, Estados Unidos, Mxico y Canad deben revisar el T-MEC, un acuerdo negociado durante el primer mandato de Trump y que entr en vigor en 2020 en sustitucin del Tratado de Libre Comercio de Amrica del Norte (TLCAN), que el republicano consideraba perjudicial para Estados Unidos.
